Dear Delegates,

It is my great honour and pleasure to welcome you all to the Coimbra Group Annual Conference and General Assembly, which will be held at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków from June 5 to June 7, 2019. We are very happy to host all the distinguished representatives of 39 ancient and prestigious European universities in Kraków and to discuss issues which, we believe, are of particular importance for the future of the European and global academia.

In recognition of the key importance of inclusiveness and equal opportunities as key values at European universities, we chose “Women in the University – the past, the present and the future” as the theme of the Annual Conference.

I wish you a great time in Kraków, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Central Europe, proud of both its heritage and its contribution to the future of Europe. I also hope that our University, which builds on its great past all the while looking to the future with its excellent, internationally-renowned research and education, provides an idea-exchange platform befitting the occasion.
